In order to ensure I am fully up to date with housing matters, as well as actively participating in the Board, I am going " Back to School" undertaking the professional experience route to attain Chartered Membership of Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), the clear standard for Housing Professionals. The aim continues to be to give young people alternatives to hanging out on the streets, and the potential dangers of boredom - crime, anti-social behaviour, drug/alcohol misuse. KPC has over 800 young people on its registers, and attendance on some evenings can be up to 100 young people. The Centre offers a wide range of activities: sports, dance, music, IT, pool, outdoor skate park, bmx track, adventure play area, as well as providing advice, information and support to young people. Regular issue based workshops are run to meet the needs of young people, and we also do Outreach work in the community for those young people who are harder to reach. In addition we are able to help young people with alternative curriculum education - eg: ASDANs, Youth Achievement Awards, and hope to begin to run OCNs this year. We want to give young people the best opportunities in life.
