Managing Director
My transition into the world of Sport & Leisure IT continued when I formed Duktag Pty Ltd with some partners in 2016, and took on the role of MD.Duktag provides customised management software for organisations such as sports federations, large scale sports clubs, and high volume commercial sports facilities who cater to "grass roots" community sports with all forms of programs. In early 2023 Duktag purchased its sister company, Intrac Australia Pty Ltd, which provides very similar software to a large clientele base who are "school" specialists - eg swim schools, dance, music, art, etc schools. We chose to retain the Intrac branding and now all the clients use either our "Intrac Sports" or Intrac Sports"management software systems. My role is now hands-on with our Intrac clients to ensure I understand exactly "what THEY want & need" so Intrac can focus on those "wants & needs".I am leading our great team to take our products and service to an even higher level and in turn increase Intrac's market share....
Managing Director
Sideline Sports Australia is partnered with Sideline Sports International in providing the worlds most powerful sports coaching software - XPS Network.I formed SSA with some partners because I could see the Australasian markets were lagging well behind Europe and North America when it came to the use of technology in sport. My role as Managing Director is to formulate and implement the SSA business plan; a role that is more like a Board Chair combined with a CEO, while leaving all the day to day operations with our team of experts. In a few short years, rudely interrupted by covid, SSA has taken XPS Network from zero in Australia to now powering several sports federations, state gov sports academies, pro sports clubs/teams, elite sports & education institutions, and many other organisations who operate at the cutting edge of sporting development programs.XPS Network leads the market throughout Europe and continues to grow in North America, but SSA is achieving the fastest growth and we plan to continue that growth for many years.
Director
As co-director of BBBOne Pty Ltd, I fill the role of MD.We designed, built, fully fund, and manage what is known as "5 Sports".5sports is a multi-sports facility covering 18,000 square meters of land at Endeavour Sports High school in Caringbah NSW.We presented the proposal to create 5sports to the NSW Department of Education in 2004, and subsequently became to first Licence Holder for such a development in Australia. My role was/is to develop and implement BBBOne's business plan for 5sports.I still liaise with the 5sports GM (I may be biased but he is the best in the biz at what he does), but he takes care of all day to day matters which frees me to pursue other ventures. With a head count of 5,000+ per week through the front door, 5sports rapidly became and remains the bench mark for such facilities in Aus.
General Manager
I had done all I could do on the tools at LPTC so I entered another aspect of the Sports & Leisure industry as GM of "Gameplan Sports & Leisure:".Gamplan was the market leader for designing and constructing sports facilities such as Tennis, Basketball, Netball, Cricket etc.We were the first company in our market to offer clients a "one stop shop" taking care of every aspect of our clients requirements covering design, construct, maintain, repair, accessories, and more. Our clientele included most NSW Councils, private and public schools, commercial construction companies, sports facility operators, and private domestic clients. My time at Gameplan gave me intimate knowledge about every aspect of what is required to design, build, and manage, great sports & leisure facilities.
Centre Manager
This was an opportunity to manage a sports facility that was under achieving. When I took over LPTC it had 2 tennis coaches and about 30% occupancy. After 12 months we had 6 coaches and 50%+ occupancy, and within another 12 months LPTC became Sydney's busiest tennis centre with an average of over 70% annual occupancy which was unheard of.Located on the shore of Sydney Harbour in Rose Bay, LPTC had/has 6 tennis courts plus and club house and we added a large cafe while I was Centre Manager.I still mentor/consult to the LPTC Head Coach and his team,.LPTC has remained a "tennis only" venue because it is cherished by local residents as a local institution that should stay as tennis - hence we are prepared to forgo multi-sports revenues at LPTC."it cannot always be about the $".
Centre Manager
I passed on a Stock Broking job offer while still at Uni to follow my passion passion for the business side of sports & leisure. So I decided to travel for 12 months, and the day I returned to Sydney I started as GM of North Sydney Tennis Centres for someone who would ultimately become my business partner in a variety of ventures. There were 2 tennis centres under my control and both had their own unique challenges but we soon had both venues running at capacity.
Tennis Coach & Events Manager
While at school I earn a few dollars coaching on Saturday mornings at Evergreen (the largest privately owned and operated tennis centre in Australia. at the time). That turned into full time work while at University (also full time). It was here where I learnt some great fundamentals of business and life from the centre manager who went on to be CEO of one Australia's largest media companies. By the time I was 20 I had become the Head Coach with over 500 children in programs every week, and left that biz at the age of 21 to expand my horizons.
