About Anthony Baker
With a diploma in Visual Communications, I started my career as a designer for small web agencies. I was immediately taken with the possibilities of animation using Javascript and CSS except I had no clue what programming was. To rectify the situation, I completed some targeted programming courses and leapt into web development with PHP/MySQL/Javascript and CSS.Before long, mobile devices started their advance with a heavy focus on HTML5 web standards. I broadened my technical skills to target that wave and discovered all-encompassing solutions like Amazon Web Services which permitted me to do my own DevOps. Armed with these tools and the Linux command line, I learned to configure and manage web and database servers, content delivery networks and the powers of cloud computing.My experience working on interactive projects offers employers a profound knowledge of all the moving parts in creating web sites. This insight permits me to judge, with precision, delivery times and the various logistical problems that can occur during a project’s life cycle.In the United States, I have worked on marketing campaigns for some of the country’s biggest television and cable companies: Xfinity, NBCUniversal, Warner Media, Disney General Entertainment Content, HBO, Showtime, Hallmark Channel, TBS Sports, ESPN and CNN.As a full-stack developer, I launched a multitude of projects under fixed deadlines using several technologies: Node, PHP, MySQL, Linux, Nginx, CI/CD with Amazon Web Services, web and database server replication and automation of massive email campaigns.In Canada, my mandate has been web design and front-end development on Sitecore and Optimizely CMS migration projects for large enterprises. The Microsoft tech stack piqued my curiosity and I have plunged into learning about debugging local installations and building my own .NET applications for deployment on Azure.With an ever-changing tech landscape, I continue to build exploration projects with front-end frameworks like React, Redux, Vue and as of late, .NET, Tailwind and Angular.Among some of my more notable projects are Commission de la construction du Québec, Business Development Bank of Canada, Game of Thrones, Homeland, Boardwalk Empire, NBA Playoffs, MLB Division Series, Disney Teen Beach Beats and ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas.
