Mental Healthcare Assistant in a hospital with two acute psychiatric wards and one eating disorder ward, working across all three. Responsible for the assistance of the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, whilst undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.Observing and monitoring the wellbeing of patients in order to ensure that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly reported and dealt with.Providing specific interventions for patients such as observation and engagement, escorting patients on leave, being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression, etc.Contributing to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

A role which involved working with children who have a diagnosis along the autism spectrum. Assisting families with the care and development of children with autism. Examples of this include evaluating and adapting activities such as swimming or the completion of their homework in order to suit the individuals needs. It is paramount in this role to have the resources and knowledge to communicate with the children as some may have been non-verbal which resulted in finding other ways to communicate with them such as BSL or visual supports. This also involved me being in a trusted safeguarding position.
