My position is in the Data Services group which is responsible for all the data and databases within the company. Being in the Telco / Networking space we deal with 100's of millions of cdr and mdr records a day. We have built an on-prem Horton works Hadoop Cluster and currently bringing all data from the disparate data-sources in house to this Hadoop ecosystem into Hive (ORC file) databases. We use talend - enterprise to do a lot of the ETL work. Most of the data is pulled from Kafka in a JSON payload and pushed to hdfs using talend. Also Talend jobs for loading from hdfs external tables into hive as well.

Primary role was to provided technical (software) support to the technical field support organization regarding installation and maintenance of our company products.
