Development engineer working on new equipment to monitor water treatment processes. UK water company representative on BSi and European standards committees for water meters. Monitoring the performance of water meters as they were first widely introduced for domestic consumption monitoring in the UK. Testing meters and reporting back to the manufacturers and water companies on their performance.Upgraded WRc's intake protection monitor for use on PC platform and incorporated new features (software development and testing). Developed (patented) technique for cleaning small diameter (up to 200mm) water pipelines using the existing flow in the pipe to effectively remove sediment, biofilms and other adherent coatings. Developed and successfully brought to market the Sahara Leak Location System - still acknowledged to be the benchmark for accurately detecting and locating even very small leaks in live, pressurised water pipes. Trained new operators to ensure safe and reliable operation of the equipment in challenging conditions.
