Hi, I'm Anthony! In 2018, I graduated from Robert Morris University with a degree in advertising and landed my first social media role as the Social Media Specialist at Coastal Carolina University. Here, I fell in love with the power of social media and its ability to tell a story that connects a brand with consumers in an authentic way.As the head of social media at CCU, my goal was to educate, entertain, and inspire our Gen-Z audience. I achieved this by introducing a new content strategy that focused on showing our audiences ways in which they can envision themselves at the university.For most companies, social media is the first place the consumer goes. Recognizing this, I knew I had to transform our social media accounts into a valuable experience for our 116,000+ followers. I introduced interactive video content, student-created posts, the idea of fewer graphics, and the use of more campus beauty shots which led to more than 10,000 users visiting the CCU website via our social platforms, and in turn, increasing our engagement. This strategy allowed me to become an expert in audience research, paid social ads, and community management, with our Instagram audience increasing from 23,000 followers to more than 30,000 in less than a year.During my time at CCU, I also worked with departments on campus to execute paid social ads across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. I worked with our school of business on a campaign to drive more people to apply to their graduate programs. The campaign garnered over 1.3 million impressions and over 300 results, which for this campaign was getting lead forms filled out by prospective students.Currently, I work for the Savannah College of Art and Design on the Executive Media team, where I create social media content that showcases SCAD as the preeminent university for creative careers. In this role, I serve as a community manager, content creator, copywriter, photographer, podcast marketer, production assistant, and even mascot – you name it, I’ve probably done it.Content creation and analysis are a large part of my role. I analyze current social media trends and find ways to best incorporate those trends into our social strategy. Every month I curate a content calendar and then execute the creation of the content that is approved, such as Instagram Reels, Instagram Guides, LinkedIn Articles, etc. I will then evaluate performance metrics of our social posts across platforms and compile relevant data, such as account growth, engagement rate, and account health, into monthly reports.
