I also helped coordinate and run a number of men’s health research and training projects. I was Coordinator of men’s health week in Australia from 2000 – 2011.In 2002 I was the Australian representative at the World Congress on Men’s Health where it was decided to initiative International Men’s Health Week www.imhw.org

I was, together with Carrie Hayter, Co-Chair the NSW Division of the AAG. We run a range of seminars and forums across NSW including Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong. New ideas are showcased, interesting subject matter presented, exciting research findings are discussed and orations by leading specialists in their fields always ensure these events are well attended. An annual two-day Rural Conference is held in a different country town each year to bring city and country people together, to network with local communities and provide resources and new research direct to those working and living across the State.

I was responsible for organising and coordinating the response to the 1999 the United Nations’ International Year of Older Persons (IYOP) in NSW. This involved a coalition of some 90 organisations from community, private and government sectors and resulted in various policy, programs and events through 1999 and beyond.

I was part of the team working on the Senior Citizens’ Clubs and Centres project, which provided advice and support to senior citizens’ groups around NSW. My role included providing advice on how making centres more accessible to older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, as well as helping write and (occasionally) edit The Scoop – a magazine for Senior Citizens’ Clubs and Centres.I also provided more general support to COTA’s policy initiatives.

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) matches community volunteers with lonely and isolated aged care (nursing home) residents. I was the first CVC Coordinator for the YMCA and established the practices and procedures for the program, as well as recruiting, training and matching volunteers.
