Mentored and developed direct reports through performance development reviews, structured training and succession planning.• Provided financial analysis and review of tender bids, including calculation of cash flow, NPV, ROFE and bonds/guarantees for bids.• Reviewed and reported on capital expenditure and ad-hoc projects.Major Achievements & Projects:• From reviews of month accounting processes and reporting, we billed the majority of revenue during the month, analysed costs and prepared trading reports in time for monthly reviews, reducing the monthly reporting cycle from 2 weeks to 1 week. I also created a set of management reports, which allowed the Project Accountants to easily download data and create accurate reports. Further areas were identified for detailed analysis and suggested initiatives to maximise revenue and minimise costs.• SA based businesses moved into a new state office, where I set up its accounting and budgeting functions. Including the reconciliation and capitalisation of the refurbishment costs, allocation of the office overhead costs to be cost-neutral and review of lease costs, which resulted in a $60,000 saving in the first year.• With tender bids, I provided financial input and analysis, which gave the bids financial integrity and Senior Management confidence in them. I wrote a paper on this process to enable others to perform this within our business unit. • I built up a team of accountants, who provided a higher level of financial output to internal clients and more clarity to their operations, which included individual profit centre reports, the profitability of individual projects and granularity of overhead costs. My team regularly reviewed their tasks and suggest better ways of carrying them out. Show less -

Company secretary.• Prepared, lodged and paid all state and federal statutory returns.• Maintained the computer accounting system, general ledger and fixed asset register.• Assisted with and reviewed budgets and cash flow.• Calculated and processed vintage costs and bottled product costs. Reviewed stock-takes and reconciled to the general ledger.• Supervised the finance clerk in Adelaide and cellar door staff in Mudgee.Major Achievements & Projects:• My initial task with PHW was to visit the Mudgee winery to understand the accounting processes and system so it could be transferred back to the WWG office in Adelaide. After several trips and a minimal handover from the previous accountant, I quickly gained knowledge of the company’s business and accounting systems and (in time) the wine industry. I maintained the existing system initially, which included the various computer ledgers, management reports, negotiations with clients to collect outstanding debts, payments to suppliers and government authorities to enable the continued operation of the winery and cellar door, and management of finance and administration staff.• Within a few months, I successfully transferred the accounting system to the Adelaide office, ensuring all ASX, statutory and management accounting and reporting was completed accurately and in a timely manner.• As the business grew, I was involved in reviewing prospective accounting systems to replace the existing system. Upon choosing the new system, I was directly involved in its set up and implementation and then subsequent maintenance, which again enable me to produce accurate reports and returns in timely basis for management and statutory authorities. Within a short time, I produced an updated set of board and bank reports, brought the various reconciliations up to date, ensured government and statutory returns were current and reported on the status of the grower pools. There were some issues within the accounting system to do with the creditor and debtor ledgers not reconciling with the general ledger, so I worked with the system programmer to resolve them.• Seedmark was in the process of changing banks when I started and I was entrusted with picking up and continuing with the process. In my time there, I developed and managed relationships with both bankers, maintained the current facilities and then continued with the changeover. It proved to be extremely challenging and provided me with a great insight into banking processes. Show less

I designed and created reports using the ERP system that allowed us to run reports quickly and accurately, saving many hours at month end.• Similarly, with the budgeting process, I was able to create a suite of Excel reports that allowed managers to create their own budgets and for me to easily consolidate them for presentation to management in review meetings.• Foreign currency played a large part in my role and with the introduction of IFRS, Sarbanes Oxley and US GAAP; I was asked to review our foreign currencies reporting requirements. I found that our “functional currency” was US dollars as the majority of our revenue was contracted and invoiced in USD. Accordingly, I set up a process to translate our various foreign currency ledgers to report in USD and the domestic currencies. Show less
