I was operating and overseeing all aspects of the Town of Marlborough, NH water and sewer department. My duties included: purchasing, setting rates, setting the budget, GIS mapping, grant writing, project oversight, vendor coordination, KOH chemical adjustments, leak detection, maintenance and repair of equipment, water main break fixes, best management practice inspections, sample collection, chemical monitoring waiver program oversight, asset inventory and assessments, hydrant flushing, valve exercising, I & I detection, smoke testing, manhole inspections, sewer line and manhole repairs, sewer backup relief, addressing customer complaints, and giving my customers the highest level of service for a fair price.

I was operating, maintaining, and managing a grade III waste water treatment plant on my own at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH. While the majority of my time was spent at FPU (40-58 hr/wk) I also operated, and maintained, three drinking water systems in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire (1-2 hrs/wk). The waste water plant at Franklin Pierce is a grade III fixed film (RBC) plant providing tertiary treatment including nitrification/denitrification and phosphorus removal. Daily, I collected data on how the plant was operating, sampled and tested various points in the treatment process, and made adjustments to the process of the plant based on the results I got. I also wasted sludge, decanted sludge, performed plant maintenance, and controlled all budgeting and purchasing for the facility.

While I was a student at Franklin Pierce University I worked (part time) with the on-campus auto mechanic doing basic automotive maintenance. I completed oil changes, tire changes, tire balances, brake repairs, front end work, and other day to day maintenance on a fleet of buses, trucks, cars, tractors, and snow plowing equipment. During my summers at Franklin Pierce, I worked (full time) dormitory maintenance and even painted the parking lot lines for the entire campus.

As an intern for Water Systems Operators (Currently WSO+) I assisted the Chief Operator at the Franklin Pierce University waste water treatment facility. My job duties included: Completing plant rounds, process testing, chemistry lab work, plant maintenance, and other day to day operations. Together, the Chief Operator and I also operated and maintained three water systems in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. During this internship, I also completed my senior thesis for environmental science at Franklin Pierce University. My thesis was entitled: “The Effect of Rainfall on Total Phosphorus Levels in Surface Water at Franklin Pierce University".
