Current• Provided counsel regarding health policy issues for Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, overseeing matters related to public health, mental health, health services, aging, disabilities, and environmental justice for Los Angeles County’s First Supervisorial District, comprised of over two million residents from diverse backgrounds• Authored and ensured passage of legislative motions on critical health issues to support the county’s most vulnerable residents, including the creation of a program providing gender-affirming health services, culturally appropriate mental health, expansion of peer support workforce, new measures to respond to the drug overdose epidemic, addressing social determinants of health, and distributing COVID-19 vaccinations equitably countywide• Oversaw the office’s COVID-19 pandemic and monkeypox outbreak responses, working regularly with public health experts while consulting with impacted community stakeholders to ensure equitable deployment of resources• Served as mediator between conflicting stakeholder groups, including trade associations, CEOs, advocacy groups, and county departments, identifying shared goals and solutions to mitigate disputes• Prepared briefing memos and drafted remarks for the Supervisor for meetings, community events, and recordings• Delivered presentations and public remarks on behalf of the Supervisor at public and community events• Evaluated and vetted applications for the Supervisor’s discretionary grants, ensuring limited available funding supported programs benefitting residents most in-need• Braided funding opportunities to support capital projects, including the creation of a Restorative Care Village, establishing a comprehensive continuum of care to address physical and behavioral health, as well as substance use
