ResponsibilitiesManaging the IT infrastructure for the support of an adoption agency and training of users in order to get the best out of the systems. This includes verifying the data security and integrity with anti virus, firewall and spy ware and ensuring the privacy of confidential data for restricted areas.The full analysis of adoption statistics using MS Access, SQL and Excel, in order that they can be used in a meaningful way. Secondary duties are to arrange appeals within churches for fundraising and widening the interest of the work of St Francis Children's Society.; the network infrastructure was very slow. As such users did not want to learn how to use the IT systems. Since being there, I have improved the service by isolating problematic areas and ensuring that these were corrected. I have leased with external agencies where appropriate in order to get the best possible training for the users on a now fast system. I have the satisfaction that users now enjoy the benefits of an IT system and have confidence in using it.Data analysis is now such that managers are able to see at a glimpse performance and use this information to better our services.

Managing the Quality Assurance for the entire project life cycle to ensure quality at all stages. This involves checking that all documentation is of a high quality at all stages of the project from envisioning through to stabilisation. My duties are to ensure that adequate testing is conducted at all stages using the V-Model and to adhere to strict governance of all deliverables.Procedures in place and maintained are that UAT can be created from a Vision Scope document, System/Integration testing created from a Functional Specification and Unit testing to be created from a Design document. A matrix is created at all stages so that such requirements can be achieved.AchievementsI have adapted the clearly defined process of quality assurance for medium and large projects to be applied to small projects. This has involved combining the documentation where appropriate to slim down the financial impact of strict quality assurance without sacrificing any principles of the process.

ResponsibilitiesPrime responsibilities are the Quality Control of Tills and Back Office systems for the Hospitality, Attractions and Retail sector. Systems tested are written in Visual Basic versions 3 through to 6 and Visual C++ 6. The principal Data Base used is SQL Server; however, MS Access is also used. Involvement in a new software suite for the Hospitality, Attractions and Retail sector from the planning and design through to testing and deployment. The suite encompasses a hierarchical back office suite from head office to site level to support point of sale terminals. This is a major ongoing project to customisation of the style of point of sale terminals and stock control and analysis of sales and profits at the back office. My task has been to certify the quality and integrity of the software and to allocate tasks to developers' based on their skills and the needs of the project.A large part of the role includes a support role in the upgrading of older software. Much of the older software was previously written based on DOS. As such, I often find myself as the pivot between the development, help desk and pre-sales technical support. This includes 3rd line support.AchievementsA Quality Assurance plan has been developed using the V-model. This plan has been developed with the foresight of limited testing resources. This plan is currently being implemented and is expected to provide tighter control over the quality of the entire service from pre-sales through to customer support.Ancillary RolesAn ancillary role, which I have developed within the company, is the training of end users to get the best out of the software. This is a role in which in which I take great pride enjoyment. Running alongside this is the internal training of help desk to ensure that they can give the best possible help and support to customers.

ResponsibilitiesRBS was tasked with a high profile eCommerce project. This required a QA independent of developers. The project was written predominately in Java using iSell to interact with an Informix database. These were all knew technologies at the time, but familiarity with these technologies grew with the project. Test procedures and scripts, were developed after analysis of the project by myself.

Responsibility for software projects for the following customers:Information Resources, Great Universal Stores, Carpet Right, MSAS, Writing software for the collection of data for analysis and market research. This included the evaluation of hardware for recommendation to customers.Writing and maintaining software for the logistic support of cargo movements, utilising Global Positioning Satellite. Languages used: ANSI C, C++, Penpal, Visual Basic and Windows CE.
