- Managing large cable projects from inception through to production, requiring strong client focus and stage inspection throughout to ensure compliance to the brief. One such complex project is the Electrical Design for production of a large electrical cabinet used to control a machining centre:- Project requirements include. A large metalwork fabrication containing approximately 200 unique wire harnesses, around 800 unique components and more than 2000 individual electrical connections.- Using the clients Electrical Schematics as a starting point, I developed and generated our Engineering, Manufacturing and Project Management processes.- Ensuring all wire harnesses are correctly assembled and available on a just-in-time basis to be installed into the fabrication in the correct sequence.- I developed the rigorous electrical inspection process to ensure each cabinet is accurately wired, safe and fit for purpose.- Using detailed technical knowledge to make accurate evaluations and communicate recommendations to clients resulting in updates to their products. E.g. I recently recommended an MCCB design change to the client which yielded a cost-down whilst maintaining the design ethos of the original. The net result was a £50 saving per cabinet.- Closely supervising my Production Engineering team including the delegation of tasks for them to achieve outcomes, often within a tight deadline. This includes maintaining the company standard for Drawings, BoM’s and SOP’s.- Ensuring clarity throughout the production process. Notably, this included creating and implementing an Engineering Change system where all drawing amendments & the reasons behind them are captured. The resulting data is available for interrogation by senior management to support ongoing strategy & facilitate decision-making.- Travelling throughout UK and Europe, accompanying the sales team on client visits to provide expert opinion, technical support, and operational capability insight.

- Held weekly production meetings with shop-floor supervisors to ensure clear communication of the weekly activities, followed by issuing a hitlist of critical jobs for the week.- Provided regular feedback to senior management for their Production KPI’s. - Requested additional resources from management on a timely basis when projections suggest targets might not be met. - Evaluated options and recommended appropriate solutions such as overtime / additional tooling / additional shifts. - Operated a rolling 2-week production cycle, based upon an 80% production capacity. This allowed a flexibility of 20% to be kept for drop dead priorities.- Capacity and resource planning for labour hours and machine hours for the rolling 2-week period.- Scheduled maintenance and calibration to minimise disruption accordingly. - Quickly resolved any problems and issues that could impede the production plan to reduce the risk of compromising deadlines.- Monitored operator job timings to ensure production targets are adhered to. Performed analysis where targets are not met to improve efficiency.

- Implemented a quality monitoring system for quantifying an operator’s performance monthly, taking into consideration timescale and quality of workmanship- Prepared quotations, bills of materials and drawings for wire harnesses.- Worked with shop-floor supervisors to refine the company drawing standard to convey more information to their workforce, helping to improve the quality & workmanship.- Raised works orders, and generated cable cut lists for shop floor production.- Worked with customers on site to resolve problems and refine more efficient solutions.
