I am graduating from McMaster this November 2021 with an M.A. in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory. I completed my degree during the COVID 19 pandemic, demonstrating my ability to work, self-motivate and excel at new things in relative isolation and with relatively little supervision or instruction.I have a deep and diverse background in entertainment and musical performance. I am comfortable communicating to live audiences both offline and through Zoom, Teams and other applications. In fact I really enjoy it. I know how to read a room, and get audiences engaged whether they're students in an English seminar or music festival goers. My oral communication is professional without being stiff, informative without being dry, and conversational without being trite.My written communication skills are excellent. In my academic work as well as my extensive Freelance work as an arts & culture critic for Exclaim Magazine, I have developed a flair for clarity, thoroughness, and a modicum of flair. My research skills--without which written communication skills are irrelevant in the pursuit of an M.A. degree--are also excellent. I thoroughly enjoy learning new things as often as I can, and I genuinely enjoy conveying what I have learned to other people in any capacity, casual or professional. If analyzing large amounts of information about a topic and distilling it down to a concise, engaging presentation or dialogue is what you need, look no further.While I am content working independently--I am sure we have all had ample practice over the past year--I am also personable. I enjoy getting to know my co-workers and I believe it is important to be instill familiarity with the community that my work impacts.
