Southern Transitions is a Global South think tank using evidence, experiments and new ideas, to empower decision-makers to collectively identify, open and harness real opportunities for just transitions.We are developing a programme of work. The first phase involves providing technical expertise as part of the South African delegation, to support the G77+China in negotiating the scope and substance of the work programme on just transition pathways, at COP28.Our work over the coming year will include research, engagement processes and testing ideas that aim to identify and overcome structural constraints on developmental futures.

Climate Horizons is a solutions-orientated sustainability consultancy with a focus on climate change and transition, operating in spaces where tough conversations, and work are made.Through Climate Horizons I engage in private sector advisory work, with an emphasis on just transition planning. My focus is guiding companies in responding effectively to climate change requirements and expectations, involving strategic decision-making, path-setting, and the provision of technical services such as GHG accounting, reporting, and decarbonisation strategy implementation. There I was responsible for assessing the socio-economic impact of a coal mine as part of the International Council on Mining and Minerals (ICMM)’s Resource Endowment Initiative. I also provided research on climate change, sustainable development in the supply chain, water costing and HIV/Aids in the mining industry for Anglo.
