I am a Mental Health Nurse, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I am also a Nurse and CBT supervisor and have a leadership and management course completed within the National Health Service.In my Nursing and CBT career I have had to complete highly specialised mental health assessments. In the ward environment I had to complete an admission assessment and would continually assess and monitor risk and progress. During my time on the wards I worked with severe and enduring mental health problems several of which came under the Mental Health Act. For example, people with Schizophrenia, Bi-polar disorder and depression. I have also worked in the community and the Crisis team. In this role, I completed in depth care co-ordination assessments and comprehensive risk assessments. I had to create an immediate plan of care and manage the associated risks presented by each client. This involved me working with other members of the team and taking a multi-disciplinary approach to link with other professionals who could help. I provided daily intensive support; constantly assessing and reviewing the client’s individual needs to monitor for improvement or deterioration.Throughout my CBT clinical experience I have learnt fundamental and problem specific CBT skills and applied these to a range of mental health problems of varying complexity. I have applied an idiosyncratic formulation driven approach by utilising specific models and evidence based treatment interventions.
