Here I was employed as a Purchasing Manager, I managed a team of five buyers, six Product Managers, a Retail Planner and a Product Development Specialist. Here I was responsible for managing budgets with an annual spend of circa £100 million. I worked closely with my team to ensure all KPI’s were met or exceeded through daily input and weekly one to ones to ensure the system was up to date, accurate and all essential housekeeping was completed and quarterly business reviews completed and reported to the board. I was responsible for developing and managing both internal stakeholder and external vendor relationships and measuring, reporting and managing performance and cost effectiveness to ensure margins and relationships were maintained or improved. I ensured logistics worked in sync with purchasing and that all health and safety protocols are reviewed and adhered to. I had to be flexible to adapt to the needs of the business which could include travel. As part of the commercial team I was also involved in reviewing potential new contracts and new product development from ideology through to purchasing, marketing and sales plans. I liaised daily with different departments in order to ensure efficiencies were optimised, best practice was shared and processes were followed across the business.

Here I was employed as a Purchasing Supervisor for the Wire and cable division, I serviced such contracts as the Ministry of Defence and control product ranges in areas such as oil, sea and gas, petrochemical, Rail and defence with an annual spend of over £180 million. I sourced and dealt with suppliers from all over the world and had to balance long lead times and high moq’s Scheduling deliveries to multiple locations throughout EMEA. I was responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relationships with existing and new suppliers, ensuring customer delivery dates were consistently met and that all possible cost saving opportunities were investigated and where practical implemented. I worked alongside the product managers in the production and maintenance of reports and kpi’s and had an active role in the vendor performance reviews and visits.I reported directly to the Director of Purchasing and Inventory and the VP for Marketing. I managed a team of five buyers and together we serviced EMEA and also supported Asia Pac and North America with elements of their purchasing needs.
