•Perform complex audits of financial and operational processes for adequate management controls, efficiency and compliance with policies, regulations and accounting principles.•Document, review and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and their application in the financial and/or management operations of an institution.•Document business systems/processes using narrative and/or flowcharting techniques. •Prepares accurate and timely written reports and makes oral presentations to appropriate management staff on audit findings and recommendations. •Participate in the development of audit programs •Establish and retain effective working relationships with other departments

• Conduct training workshops for private businesses and public agencies• Audit private businesses and public agencies of all sizes for unclaimed property• Schedule and conduct unclaimed property consultation visits• Prepare detailed reports on audit findings• Conduct interviews with accounting personnel and representation• Suggest strategies to businesses to avoid future liability• Develop, review and implement internal and external policies and procedures

• Interpret and comprehend complex state tax laws• Educate Taxpayers to promote compliance with state tax laws• Investigate delinquent Taxpayer accounts• Defend the Department in appeal hearings• Provide written and oral testimony for revocation hearings• Research state tax laws and prior rulings to determine tax classifications of businesses • Work closely with excise tax auditors to resolve complex cases• Provide recommendations to the Appeals Division in settlement cases
