"We thought the solution would be easy to use" - said by most clients. Building IKEA furniture the first time will always take the longest. Every iteration after that will get easier and easier. I love a good analogy. For instance, you can give a person a fishing rod, teach them to fish, or teach them to fish for you. I believe that an effective initial enablement and training program are the most important drivers of customer adoption. I should have put that in my engineering thesis on user adoption of IT systems in organisations. I love to problem solve - to crack the code (and to code). Whether that's building a model to drive efficiencies, or designing a solution for a business to utilise their current capabilities with little interference to their daily operations. Creating a simple solution that helps people.I also enjoy being hands on - getting under the hood. Having that fundamental understanding of how things work. What are the drivers and influences of an outcome? What is the financial impact to the business? Identifying conclusions and making predictions based on data to tell a "real" story, with realistic actionable items. My experience working in roles through all levels of P&L statements gives me that insight into the foundations of a successful business.- Account management, evaluating and selling products and services- Category management building relationships between vendors, customers and consumers- Above the line marketing, digital campaigns to attract new consumers to product- Below the line marketing and category management using multiple data sets to drive new product development and promotional strategy- Commercial finance planning & performance analysis and BI systems implementation & managementI strongly believe in the golden triangle of time, quality and cost. Each point can vary in angular size, but they all contribute to a full 180 degrees; you can't increase one without impacting the others. I'm very measured, logical and strategic about how I get results from a project or client. I act with intent towards an agreed goal using whatever mix of AGILE, waterfall, etc methodologies are needed in a particular situation.Every day I'll transform my daily interactions into flow charts and diagrams in my mind. Mapping people, process and technology and identifying gaps and improvements. I'm constantly measuring and weighing the effect certain drivers have on outcomes. It's the way I imagine the world - where simple changes can have big positive impacts for scale and efficiency.
