Anthony is currently a M.S. candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at San Francisco State University's Estuary & Ocean Science Center. His research for the project: "From Microbes to Zooplankton: Larval Fish Diets as Indicators of Food Web Dynamics in Tidal Wetland Restoration", is focused on the dissection of larval fish digestive tracts [Longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys), Pacific herring (Clupea pallasii), Prickly sculpin (Cottus asper)], conducting High-throughput DNA sequencing of the digestive systems in order to determine the diets of the larval fish, and how the diet composition can be utilized for wetland restoration management in the Upper San Francisco Estuary. Anthony graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Unity College in December 2021 with a B.S. in Marine Biology & Sustainable Aquaculture. His thesis proposal was focused on the effects of ocean acidification (OA) on Giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) growth, biomass, C:N and C:P ratios, breaking strength (tensile strength), and survival. His senior capstone project was focused on the impact of OA on the growth, calcification, and survival of the deep-water Sea pen (Halipteris californica) in Bodega submarine Canyon.Anthony’s long-term career goal is to pursue a Ph.D., conduct research in a marine laboratory, and explore the deep-sea.
