The Department of Health (DH) provides strategic direction for the NHS and wider health & care system. As Deputy Director of Procurement I manage a team of 40 operating out of London, Runcorn, Reading & Leeds. I also advise on and influence the wider Health budget, including procurement across the Arms Length bodies.

High Speed Two (HS2) Limited is the company responsible for developing and promoting the UK’s new high speed rail network between London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. As well as building a railway, HS2 is also building the organisation. I led the corporate procurement team operating out of both London & Birmingham.

The Department of Health (DH) provides strategic direction for the NHS and wider health & care system. Its non-pay spend is c. £23bn and as National Lead, I have responsibility for developing and delivering critical strands of the National Procurement Strategy including Crown Commercial Service (CCS) and Temporary Staffing to help NHS Trusts achieve £2bn efficiency savings by 2015/16 and protect critical frontline services.

As CPO, I led the corporate Procurement team with a remit to drive the board sponsored procurement transformation programme, across an addressable spend of c. £930m, by delivering more effective procurement; professionally manage the complex supply base; increase social opportunities for Essex residents and local businesses.

As Director of Procurement, I led a team to drive a board sponsored cashable savings programme; lead the next generation outsourcing programme; develop an Olympics procurement strategy and embed best practice strategic sourcing & supply chain management methodologies, across an addressable spend of c. £950m.

Royal & SunAlliance (RSA) Plc is one of the world’s leading multinational insurance groups and the UK’s largest commercial insurance company. As Director of Procurement, I led the corporate Procurement team across both direct and indirect expenditure (£1.5bn). A key area of focus was the claims expenditure developing new and innovative supply chain arrangements for key General Insurance products: Household (e.g. brown & white goods, jewellery, carpets); Property (e.g. building repairs, subsidence) and Motor (e.g. vehicle repairs, salvage, windscreens) to reduce costs and improve customer service.
