As a teaching assistant in the Communication Department I am responsible for the effective teaching of three lab sections, of eighteen students each, in the Principles of Human Communication. In addition, I attend weekly lectures, staff meetings, maintain office hours, and offer one on one tutoring in the Center for Communication Development.My duties as a Research Assistant include providing research in the area of family communication and military deployment stress. I attend weekly staff meetings and prepare material to help support this area of research. During this time I have helped co-author a chapter on Surveillance and National Security which is currently under review.

As an assistant Cross Country/Girls Distance Track Coach, I helped to organize, conduct, and supervise practices throughout the season, implementing a strict training regimen. I implemented the use of social media in order to better reach out to and communicate with students, parents, and the community to more effectively promote our program. As a fundraiser, I planned, organized, and supervised the Tom Burns Memorial Fun Run, which raised over $1500 for the team. Most importantly, I continuously mentored student athletes throughout the year in order to ensure their success not only as students and athletes but as young adults. Over three seasons that I have coached, the teams that I have been a part of have won a district championship each season.

Worked in the Academic Support Center as a tutor for the America Reads and Counts Program. During this time I worked with students at NMSU-A at improving their writing skills in multiple subjects such as Communication, English, and History.

As an Infantry Unit Leader in the Marine Corps, I supervised and coordinated the activities of 40+ weapons specialists/crew members. Duties included directing deployment of infantry weapons, vehicles, and equipment; directing location, construction, and camouflage of infantry positions and equipment; managing field communications operations; coordinating with armor, artillery, and air support units; performing strategic and tactical planning, which included battle plan development; and leading basic reconnaissance operations. I was privileged to have the opportunity to direct and train infantry Marines for over twelve years. These experiences provided me the great honor of leading small-unit infantry in 100+ ground combat operations in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition, I also served on special duties which included Canvassing Recruiter, Limited Duty Range Officer, Marksmanship Coach, Martial Arts Instructor, and Strategic Weapons Security Forces. Over the course of my career, among other military awards and recognition, I received numerous supervisor evaluations in which I was rated as the highest rated performer among my peers.
