2004- 2005 IRAQ: OPERATIONS MANAGER (US DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE) Directly reporting to the officer in charge of the Civilian Police Assistance Training Team - Counter Terrorism Special Operations Unit, I commenced duties in An Numinayah, Iraq. I was responsible for conducting training of new Iraqi recruits for the tactical units of the new Iraq police services and the selection and training of the members of the Operational Support Team stationed in Baghdad. Training was conducted via interpreters in large group numbers in highly dangerous situations with the constant threat from insurgents. I was also the Tactical Commander for in excess of 100 operations including the movement of weapons and ammunition and was responsible for the road escort of numerous high ranking US Military Officers to places such as Fallujah, Taji, Ramadi and several US Military Bases.

After leaving the Queensland Police Service, I moved to Victoria to join the Outdoor Education Group, during which time I worked as an outdoor guide to secondary school students, facilitating their personal development and life skills in unique and remote environments. At this time, I also gained a number of instructional qualifications which included:• Certificate IV- Outdoor Leadership (12 months full time) • White Water Rescue Course (Level One) • Various outdoor qualifications including Bushwalking Instructor, Rock Climbing Instructor, Rafting Instructor, Nordic Skiing Instructor and Cycling Instructor

1996-1998 V.I.P. PROTECTION TEAM Queensland Police have part time V.I.P. Protection staff to augment the full-time S.I.B.(Security Intelligence Branch) Unit at Police Headquarters. I undertook various V.I.P. personal and venue protection taskings. For example: • Mr John HOWARD, Sir Julius CHAN and HRH the Prince of Japan • Peace Talks: Papua New Guinea Government and Bougainville Republican Army • Queensland Government Country Cabinet Meetings (Cooktown and Cairns) 1992-1996 SPECIAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAMCommenced initial training with the Special Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T) in 1992. S.E.R.T. is responsible for attending sieges, hostage and barricade situations where the risk is such that general duties police are unable to resolve the situation. Duties include all rescue situations including high angle and confined space.
