The role consisted of working with various departments at Collins to ensure product maturity before transitioning to full rate production; Leading PFMEAs for each product, collaborating with design or appication engineering to ensure bill of materials were efficient for process flow, Leading cost and storage discussions for all hazardous material kept in thedepartment, and designing custom tools to help develop efficiency gains for each product line.

My summer internship with Rockwell Collins led into my final semester in the University of Iowa's undergraduate program. I was offered to stay and work part time throughout the fall. The work environment was very friendly and helpful toward my career development. I built many close relationships and gained more manufacturing awareness from the many knowledgeable mentors at Rockwell Collins. The experience creating a new perceptive from the Aerospace side of manufacturing compared to my previous manufacturing internships.I was given a variety of tooling projects that sharped my skills with Solidworks. Many of my designs not only needed prints and dimensions for build/fabrication but even more importantly they were needed for the 3D printer that Rockwell Collins had for manufacturing. My internship period not only made me proficient with Solidworks 3D modeling software but also 3D printing parts. The processes saved a tremendous amount of time and money in tooling costs for my area. Solidworks was very comparable to Inventor in its user interface so my learning curve was quick and advanced in a short time. 3D printing my designs made the work that much more useful and enjoyable for projects needed in my area.Another project included my collection and analysis of data for a servo press machine. The task involved creating a tool that would equate how long it should take to put a connector on a circuit build based on the size and quantity of connectors needed on the circuit board. Trends were easy to find once all that data was graphed and plotted to highlight some of the key dependent and independent variables in the process that led to the overall assembly time.Other Major Projects:-3D printing various masking covers for sensitive circuit board components-TDMS2 software for test station procedures -Creating new Rockwell Collins part numbers and editing outdated drawing specifications-Production line support for manufacturing operations

Bellwether Creation Company is a start-up company that deals with website design, application implementation, and product development. I've never been part of an organization more motivated and determined to really make a difference in this new age of technology. Our team consists of a variety of different personalities all with unique skills sets, all contributing to high levels of productivity. Having experience with 3D modeling and design allows me to take advantage and improve in that area with some of the projects in Bellwether. The opportunity also gives me the chance to work with many individuals from numerous fields like computer science, electrical engineering, etc. This has helped my skill set expand and improve in such areas like coding and application development. I've grown much more familiar with Xcode, Javascript, HTML, CSS, and jQuery from my involvement with Bellwether.

As an intern with Parker Hannifin the work load contained a heavy use of 3D modeling and AutoCAD. The three months brought my CAD skills to the next level in terms of quality and comfort in carrying out the design process. I became familiar with the explaining the important concepts of particular design to manufactures. There were multiple instances that required me to fill in for my supervisor and contribute to team lead updates. Skill sets like creating prints for projects, machining, efficiently prioritizing tasks, and portraying confidence in my work are some of the significant attributes that all became very distinct by the end of my internship.I became close with a lot of great people during my three month period at Parker Hannifin. On top of the distinguished knowledge gained during my time, the experience has truly pushed me toward my full potential of my engineering career. A point in my career that is still very far away but was a major contribution in molding me into a more qualified and skillful engineer. My internship with Parker was a great experience for me, I am grateful for seizing the opportunity of meet such a great and prideful community. During my time at Contour Saws I experienced first hand knowledge of what is expected of me for my field of work. My time as an intern at Contour progressed my methods to manage tasks efficiently and prioritize my assignments in correlation with their completion date. I was able to gain insight from varies fields of engineering and see the integration of these synergies in effectively completing a project. The vast amount of learning acquired from my first internship gave me a clear idea of whats expected of me outside the classroom. From wiring circuit relays, comprehending pneumatic control valves, organizing presentations on analytical statistics, and the heavy use of Inventor for the manufacturing of assembly parts. I will always appreciate the great people I had the pleasure of meeting. The significant information I obtained at the internship played and continues to play a major role in shaping the start of my career.Major Projects- Implement adjustable height design for an Alo set gauge- Update and rewire an electrical circuit for a bend tester (circuit relays, 24V solenoid, circuit breaker, etc.) - Provide a presentation explaining different pneumatic control valve systems- Development model and prints for new touch screen enclosure (x2)- Transfer machine circuit blue prints to AutoCAD (7ft x 3ft)
