Returning to UK in April 2013 and looking for new opportunities within the MEP industry

Abu Dhabi

In May 2008 I was offered the opportunity to head up the MEP Division of MGM, the Las Vegas Hotel and Resort group, for a prestigious project in Abu Dhabi. The project was to consist of 1600 rooms and branded residences, and numerous F and B outlets and retail zone. Unfortunately after some 3 years in the various design phases, the client decided not to proceed with the project. During the three years I was involved in the project my role was to supervise the design of the various consultants involved in the Building Services process to ensure that all standards and design briefs were being adhered to in terms of code and MGM policies for this region. I was also involved in the liaison with the local statutory bodies including Estidama to ensure the Consultants were following the Abu Dhabi guidelines, and that the MGM standards were acceptable to ADTA.

Hertfordshire

In September 2004 I was employed by Capita Symonds, as Building Services Director for the London region. My principal role was full operational control including financial management of a number of project teams, both in the UK and latterly overseas. In September 2005, my duties as a UK based Operations Director,were extended to include overseas projects and I took over responsibilities of various overseas offices including Mauritius, Trinidad, and Fiji . My brief was then modified to ensure that our overseas offices operated within the Capita Symonds’ guidelines of operation, i.e., sustainable offices whilst still maintaining financial viability. Together with our architectural and project management teams I was responsible for assessing new business opportunities in the overseas market. My Financial duties for Capita included business plan budgeting, P & L accounts and strategic planning responsible to the Business Centre Manager who in turn reported to the Capita Board of Directors.
