Expertise in earthquake geology, Quaternary geology, paleoseismology, tectonic geomorphology, active faulting, seismology, seismic hazards, and pedology. I have conducted site-specific and regional investigations of young faulting in a wide variety of geologic and tectonic settings. I have led and participated in field studies of active faults throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, Australia, Haiti, El Salvador, and western China. I have additional experience related to active fault investigations in northern Europe and Afghanistan.During my 40+-year-long career, I've acquired extensive experience in the analysis of hazardous faults for both general hazard assessments an for site-specific assessments as part of the construction of major infrastructure projects and critical facilities including power plants, dams, and pipelines. I have also served as a technical adviser and reviewer for similar projects. Most recently, I have participated in hazardous fault studies associated with hazard assessments of critical facilities and infrastructure projects in Alaska, Brazil, California, New Mexico, and Georgia. In addition, I've have participated in several SSHAC evaluations for critical facilities in Georgia, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
