Anthony co-founded Chester Asset Management in 2017 after departing SG Hiscock. Chester Asset Management Pty Ltd. was established in 2017 by Rob Tucker and Anthony Kavanagh. It is a boutique investment manager and is 100% owned by its staff, hence has absolute alignment of interests between the staff and the clients. Rob and Anthony have enjoyed a strong working relationship for over 7 years. They were both formerly employed by Melbourne based boutique, SG Hiscock. Rob has worked in the industry for 18 years, spending time at Merrill Lynch before working for HSBC Asset Management for 9 years, 5 of these years (2005-2010) were based in Hong Kong where he managed in excess of $1.0bn for a wide array of institutional clients. The 5 year track record running the HSBC Australian Country fund delivered 4.5% outperformance per annum. Rob worked at SG Hiscock from 2010 to 2017, setting up the unique Australia Plus fund in October 2013. It delivered very strong returns for clients for over 3 years (in excess of 10% outperformance per annum over 3 and a half years) when Rob departed SG Hiscock in February 2017.

At SG Hiscock Anthony worked as part of the SGH Australia Plus and SGH20 team, operating a high conviction benchmark unaware strategy. Anthony performed detailed company research and industry analysis, portfolio management assistance, client reporting, ESG analyses, proxy voting, quant filtering and database management. Anthony was also the primary dealer of the team.At SG Hiscock Anthony led a material enhancement in the company analysis capabilities of the team including: research, modelling, stock selection and idea generation. During that time Anthony’s research coverage expanded from Energy and Utilities to include: Infrastructure/ Transport, Agriculture/ Consumer Staples, Resources (base metals, precious metals and bulks), Building Materials, Financials, Construction and REITS, Chemicals, Paper and Packaging and Gaming.

Prior to working at SG Hiscock Anthony was an Associate Director at Core Energy Group, providing consulting services (in depth research and insights) to over 10 of Australia's largest fund managers on ASX listed energy and utility companies and energy market dynamics. During that time Anthony also completed a number of client engagements for industry participants including assistance with M&A projects.
