Ormond College is the largest residential College at the University of Melbourne and host to the Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship. The varies role requres expertise across a range of systems: Windows Server & Desktops, Active Directory, Group Policy, VMWare ESXi, Office 365 / Exchange Online, VoIP. Unique systems are used such as Synergetic, StarRez, WFS EmpLive and a complex Wordpress installation. Cisco/Meraki switch/wireless, Zoom / Zoom Phone system, JAMF Device Management. Ormond is home around 370 undergraduates, 50 graduate resident students and 80 non-resident students and staff.

The e-Learning Leader position has been incorporated into the role of the IT Manager. By combining technical and curriculum knowledge, the e-Learning Leader utilises technology to enhance skills of staff and students, modernisation of the curriculum and curation of digital resources, tailored to the specific needs of the College.

My responsibilities involved effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure to ensure excellent IT outcomes to support the curriculum of the college. Building trust relationships between ICT and users, not only technologically but interpersonally. Implementation of ICT integrated into initiatives that the college provisioned, such as new buildings, upgrades of existing equipment and support of projects such as STEAM, SOLEs, and BYOD. Management of the ICT Team, budget and resource allocation and liaison with the college’s leadership teams were vital to the administration of these curriculum projects. As well as contributing to ongoing ICT strategy, design, and implementation.

In my role as a contractor for the Department of Education, I was responsible for the providing specialist technical support to several schools on the Mornington Peninsula. Providing technical assistance with file servers and LANs; WANs; Internet services, proxy servers, and Intranets; desktop/laptop hardware and software, email and electronic library services; remote management services; Department applications and technology rollouts.
