On leaving the Royal Navy in 2011 after 36 years service, I formed AK Consulting to provide a broad range of strategic management, business transformation, risk, safety and quality management, training & education and performance management consultancy services to both the public and private sectors. After over 6 years successful consultancy work, mainly on major logistics, safety management, engineering and training change contracts in the Middle East, in March 2018 I retired from remunerated activity and have since wound up my business. Since 2015 I have been working with Navy Wings on an occasional basis as a technical, project management and airworthiness advisor as well as a Supporter and Volunteer.I was a Governor at Strode College in Street from 2013 until June 2024 and am a Business Advisor to the start-up company In The Loop Drinks. In January 2021 I joined Re:Act, the disaster relief charity as a volunteer to support the Covid mass vaccination programme and have since transferred to the NHS Volunteer Team where I continue to assist the seasonal booster programmes.I remain an active Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and in January 2024 became a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers. I was admitted to the Freedom Of The City Of London in December 2023.
