I have been a consultant and adviser in the assessment and management of the environmental aspects of business and government for over 35 years. I am particularly experienced in the evaluation and management of environmental risks and related financial liabilities most often associated with contamination of land and water and inadequate management of municipal and mining waste. I started work in government, then with a global consultancy, grew my own consulting business and more recently moved back into global consultancy, initially via a merger – moving in and out of technical and management roles. I remain involved in projects requiring my experience and expertise as a practicing hydrogeologist. I have provided technical oversight and as an expert witness in recent years on projects involving land and groundwater contamination assessment, remediation and auditing; waste and landfill management; mine waste management; landfill gas risk management; groundwater resources development; groundwater supply engineering, including deep wells (to 700m); and mine dewatering investigation and design. I have worked or studied in several countries including throughout SE Asia (Thailand, Philippines & Vietnam) and the Middle East (Oman & Pakistan) as well as Australia, New Zealand & PNG. I have been as an adviser and lecturer in hydrogeological and environmental engineering programs, particularly at RMIT in Melbourne until 2020. I am an EPA-accredited Environmental Site Contamination Auditor registered and practicing in Victoria, NSW (ceased 2023), ACT, SA and WA (ceased 2023).
