When I was a small child, I loved computers. I would spend days playing with my family's Windows 95 computer. When I was in high school, my younger brother introduced me to Linux. It wasn't until I started my career at L3Harris that I really started taking Linux seriously. In 2016, I had gained enough knowledge and experience to remove Windows from my personal computer and use exclusively Linux for all of my computing needs. Linux wasn't the only skill that I picked up at L3Harris though. I also gained practical development experience with C, C++, Python, Node.js, and container images. When I wasn't writing application code, I was learning how to improve my own efficiency and the efficiency of the developers around me through implementing and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines. After several years, I found myself being called to move my wife and I back to the place that we grew up.After moving back to the Fayetteville Arkansas area, I started working on the Carrier 360 platform at J. B. Hunt. While at J. B. Hunt, I gained experience with Java Spring development, Kubernetes and found myself being the first software engineer to implement a native Quarkus application. After a couple of years, I left J. B. Hunt in order to accept a position at Red Hat.My role at Red Hat involves maintenance and support of a JBoss EAP backend application and Angular 4 frontend. While at Red Hat I have found myself improving testing of those supported applications, assisting with CI/CD, and improving software build processes.In all of my experiences, I have found several passions that make working a joy and make me feel fulfilled in what I do. I am passionate about enabling my teams through improving developer efficiency because I get a thrill out of being able to help my team produce more, with less. I have also found that I am passionate about improving system stability and performance.
