Based in Melbourne, Australia. Working on various projects throughout Australia and the rest of the world. Primarily offshore in Bass Strait, Victoria, involving Laser Scanning, piping replacement surveys, structural modifications, and the design of new piping routes. Dimensional Control on naval vessels for BAE Systems and oil and gas facilities in New Zealand, Thailand and Israel. Laser Scanning surveys on Process Facilities in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

Duties included pre-weld, post-weld and as-built surveys on all topside components for the Sea Dragon offshore facility. Interface surveys carried out to ensure fit-up with the rig upon arrival from Russia. Quayside upgrade, involving installation of new mooring systems and new facility fabrication and installation.

Working on various projects throughout the UK, offshore and overseas, namely Holland, Equatorial Guinea, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Egypt and the UAE. Primarily replacement pipe spool surveys for the offshore oil and gas industry, but also interface and clash surveys for module integration, overseeing complete ‘new build’ of jack-up rigs and as-built scan surveys of LNG plants. In Qatar I was employed as the Survey Manager, responsible for the surveying and laser scanning of a 1km long pipe rack, delivering 2D detailed drawings and 3D point clouds for clash checking with new structures. From Oct. 2007 through 2008 I was employed as a DC consultant for a major offshore fabrication company based in the UAE. I was responsible for setting up the DC procedures and method statements, recommending instruments and software, training of local surveyors and generally overseeing the whole department. Software used includes DCD pipework software, AutoCAD, SC4W and also LFM Laser Scanning software coupled with Z&F Laser Scanners.

Shah Deniz TPG 500 Jack-up rig for the Caspian Sea.Establishing co-ordinate control for the leg build procedures, strip interfaces, spud-can assembly and integration, utilising the SC4W Survey software. Writing various method statements and procedures, delegation of duties throughout the contract and liaising closely with fabrication foremen and client engineers to ensure that the build requirements were achieved.

2 Vessels for the MOD.Based at Swan Hunter Yards at Wallsend and Port Clarence, Middlesbrough. Pre-weld, post-weld and as-built surveys of blocks at all stages of ship construction including pre fit-up interface surveys and final as-built surveys of vessel sections.

HSBC Bank Headquarters / DS1 Project / DS4 Project Based at Canary Wharf in London. Duties included the setting out and monitoring of ground control and level datums. I was involved in all aspects of construction and steel installation including concrete cores, stairs, lift shafts and external steelwork up to 45 floors.

Amethyst B103 / B104 Semi-Submersible Drilling Platforms for the Gulf Of Mexico. Based in Mississippi and Louisiana, USA. As lead surveyor at Pascagoula, I was responsible for all the dimensional control on the topsides for the 2 platforms, including the setting out of main control stations and datums, and monitoring during all stages of construction and integration.

Triton FPSO. Work involved establishing vessel control, pallet support installation, piping routes for possible clashes and heli-pad installation.Continuing the tanker conversion, work included the machining and installation of the turret casing to sub-millimetre accuracy using the latest Leica AXYZ programme. Also pipeline and flange surveys prior to hook-up.Involved in all the final stages of conversion including the removal of the moonpool cover, spider, turret, pallet and swivel installation and spool hook-ups.
