My career has been spent working in every aspect of drugstore retail. I have had the opportunity to work at numerous stores in different neighborhoods, serving a wide variety of customers and managing an equally wide variety of employees. Post graduation I began my career with Walgreens as an assistant manager. I was promoted to Assistant Store Manager in 1999. In 2002 I was promoted to Store Manager. For my first store I relocated to Lafayette, La. for two years. Excepting those two years, I have worked my entire career in the New Orleans metro area. Store manager position encompassed the entire store, including the pharmacy. In 2000, I became certified as a Pharmacy Technician in Louisiana, as well as passing the PTCB (Pharmcist Technician Certification Board) exam for certification nationally. I pursued these credentials to be more capable in the store's pharmacy, even though I worked in management. Within 7 years, it would become a Store Manager requirement with Walgreens.In August of 2020, I used my licensing to transition to a Certified Pharmacy Technician position in the central pharmacy of UMC Hospital in New Orleans, La., part of the LCMC hospital group. UMC is a state of the art facility in downtown New Orleans providing every aspect of hospital care, including Veterans Administration services.
