Write stories on Australian equity markets, including stories on listed companies, investment, IPOs and funds managers for the Markets team at The Australian Financial Review. This role expanded to include investment banking, including coverage of the big US and European investment banks in Australia and Macquarie Capital, and writing a weekly "Inside the Deal" column looking at a capital market transaction and the people involved.

I completed a one-year cadetship with Fairfax Media, including a formal cadetship program and shorthand training, at The Southern Highland News in Bowral. I was sports editor at The Southern Highland News, responsible for everything in the sports section for the tri-weekly publishing schedule. The job involved covering local sporting competitions, finding interesting stories about well-known athletes from the area, taking photos and laying out the sports pages.

I completed an accounting traineeship at PwC, primarily working in financial services audit in the Sydney office. I was tasked with auditing funds managers, insurance companies and leasing firms, starting as a trainee and finishing as a senior accountant working on a contract basis. The work involved interim and year-end statutory audits, controls testing and financial statement analysis. I worked full-time for three-and-a-half years, before contracting for an additional two years.
