On 31 December 2021, I retired from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) where, during the course of my 32 years of service, I have been a key player in developing and changing Human Resources Management policies. I have developed, from scratch, policies for the employment of local and international civilians in NATO’s military missions in the Balkans and Iraq, thus establishing conditions of work and salary scales. I have participated in NATO teams negotiating the establishment of forward commands in NATO missions and operations and in teams starting up and closing peacetime headquarters in NATO countries.I have led negotiations for Collective Labor Agreements with National Labor Unions and I have participated in developing international agreements affecting NATO’s ability to engage local and international staff in military operations outside the boundaries of the Alliance.I have conducted salary surveys throughout my geographical area of responsibility, interacting with representatives of national governments and international governmental and nongovernmental organizations.I have routinely briefed very senior executives in my Organization and representatives of Nations on all aspects of civilian human resources. I interact with senior officials of other international organizations. I interact with senior government officials of Nations or entities hosting military headquarters and/or missions.I have held delegated authority for the yearly payroll totaling over 30 million Euro for 15 different NATO headquarters/units in Southern Europe and Iraq.Concurrently to my NATO employment, I have held the position of Chairperson of the Board of the International School of Naples for approximately 15 years. In this role, together with the Principal, I have led the school through accreditation, technological innovation, and financial overhauling processes. Most recently, I have successfully led the School through the very difficult and unchartered waters created by the Covid-19 pandemic.My Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences together with my professional experience in an international environment has allowed me to develop, use, and enhance a system approach to organizational change, strategic human resource management, and organizational decision making.Today, I provide HR consulting services on a freelance basis, working mainly from remote and I conduct seminars for university students.
