Since earning my credential as well as a supplementary authorization in mathematics, I am very excited to begin my teaching career and make a positive impact in students’ lives.In addition to having a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, I have worked extensively in my local area as an enthusiastic student teacher and substitute for the last three years. My experience ranges from 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade classrooms up to Middle School and High School all in the Temecula and Murrieta Valley School Districts. In these roles I was responsible for not only my own learning as a future educator but for the growth and learning of my students as well. My time as a teacher has allowed me to connect with students’ as they both assumed mentorship roles with their peers and gained confidence in their ability to learn. In addition, I also prepared students for the challenging state tests and fostered their leadership and problem-solving skills by having them collaborate in groups. As an educator I believe in engaging students with what I call “motivation through application” wherein I will relate a particular topic in class to something that interests my students personally. I believe that students being able to explore and be creative is essential particularly in the math field. If a particular topic can be connected to something that interests them, students are much more likely to be involved and active learners. I am also in the process of earning a single subject math credential.
