As Manager of the Network Build Team at Google, my job is to oversee the planning, design, and physical execution of building Network infrastructure and capacity to meet premium cloud customer and business requirements. Building and scaling one of the world's largest and most complex networks collaborating with executive leadership regarding goals and forecasting, metrics and productivity, and budget/cost analysis is a daily adventure.

Responsible for building and scaling one of the world's largest and most complex networks while growing a highly skilled global network management and technician team.Directly manage a team of 70 managers and technicians responsible for day to day Network Scaling projects across 50+ data centers in North America.Led the team responsible for doubling Amazon's core network infrastructure in the United States, Europe, and Asia/Pacific regions.Established a global Network Scaling Infrastructure presence for Amazon, growing the team from 1 manager and 20 technicians in mid-2013 to 14 managers and over 130 industry-best technicians today. Led a team responsible for day to day operations of large scale mission critical data center. Strategic planning and execution of the installation and decommissioning of network and server related assets, as well as cable plant infrastructure covering 96K square foot of raised floor.Optimized cooling to cloud rack infrastructure in data centers using Tile Flow CFD modeling program. Collaborated across facilities groups, overseeing maintenance procedures as well as reviewing and updating documentation to ensure data center optimization.Working knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, access control/security systems.

Led a team of 20 technicians and vendors responsible for designing, building, testing, and documenting new build methodology.Recruited and built a top-performing technical team noted for integrity and delivery with zero turnover in 4 years.Established specialized team to identify new opportunities and create efficiencies to support 25,000 network assets and a 33,000-strand fiber optic infrastructure plant. Directly responsible for the management of 31 on-site host vendors. Analyzed volumes and trends against annual maintenance contract.Delivered high-quality technical support to internal customer community consisting of 50+ network engineers.Negotiated decreased maintenance costs of $8 million with host vendors in 2010.Drove $1 million savings in network assets in 2010 partially through development of strategic tools and cross-departmental alliances.

Managed data center operations for 3 major AOL, LLC data centers. Directly managed a team of 14 System and Network Integrators and union contractors. Specific focus on all aspects of technical project management including, process workflows, resources allocation, project planning, cost analysis, and asset management.Responsible for the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux Redhat/UNIX based servers and components of a large complex network. Responsible for maintaining hardware and software inventory of 5,000 network and server assets with a value over 20 million dollars. Vendors include Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Dell and HP.Implemented RMA tool for tracking defective network assets returned to vendors domestically and internationally. In 2010, 132 defective assets returned with a value of $1.7 million.Created small parts store to assist engineering teams forecast and budget future projects. From 2009 - 2010, 2176 assets requested for a savings of 500K to AOL.Managed a training repository of 22 videos and a product catalog of over 200 images of network equipment used by Network Operations Center (NOC) and site integration teams in the U.S. and India.

Responsible for installation, termination, and troubleshooting of the AOL infrastructure. Our goal: To build and maintain an infrastructure that is reliable and scaleable with as little customer interruption as possible. Duties include: Physical build, installation and configuration of network/host switches and routers. The physical build, installation and troubleshooting of the the AOL fiber optic backbone. Skill sets vary from Fiber Optic single mode and multimode to Cat-5 and Co-ax. Layer 1,2 and 3 Network Troubleshooting.Equipment used: Fluke Inline Tester mini sniffers to troubleshoot entire network from layer 1 and layer 2 perspectives.
