About Anthony Brown

Between 2005 and 2011, I studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign working on my bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Engineering with an interest in computer architecture. From 2009 to 2011, I worked as a teaching assistant for ECE411, a senior level class in computer design and organization. From 2006 to 2009, I worked as a student manager for the Illinois Men's Basketball team. providing video scouting assistance to the coaching staff and players.During the summers of 2008, 2009, and 2010, I worked as a summer intern for ViaSat Corporation in Germantown, Maryland and Carlsbad, California. I worked on a variety of projects for the satellite communication company that increased my skills in computer networking and test automation and design. From 2011 to 2024, I worked at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, CA. During this time, I worked exclusively in Quality & Reliability organization on accelerated stress testing of Intel devices (including processors, chipsets, graphics cards, memory) to fulfil requirements needed for product qualification. These devices spanned Intel's full product portfolio ranging from low power SoCs used in phones, tablets and laptops to the high power processors used in data centers. This accelerated stress testing was done on live systems running real operating systems and customer representative workloads. When we piloted this approach in 2011-2012, all testing was done manually with lengthy test procedures needed to start a single unit in a single experiment. Over time, I architected the software and tools needed to automated the entire process with full data logging, failure resilience, and scalability. This required me to become the local "expert" in all parallel areas to that software: system administration to keep lab machines patched and software consistent; database design/normalization to keep data uploads performant; web development to provide a user interface to visualize data.

Managed the System Quality & Reliability team of engineers and technicians operating labs in United States, Costa Rica, and Israel overseeing the majority of Intel products across Client, Server, and Networking market segments.• Spearheaded successful pilots of High Temperature Operating Life (HTOL) stress tests for Client and Server products, ensuring product reliability under extreme conditions and contributing to enhanced performance standards that align with industry best practices.• Designed and implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) that streamlined development practices and elevated process efficiencies, resulting in a 2024 ISO certification and strengthening overall quality assurance.• Managed multimillion dollar operational budget supporting lab infrastructure, collaterals, and contingency worker forecasts backed by self-developed data-driven models.• Led the technical direction as software lead, managing all lab automation tools, systems, and infrastructure. Operational efficiency improved over 40% from 2023 to 2024 through targeted development efforts as measured by non-value-added indicators.
  • Intel Corporation
    Senior Software Engineer
    Intel Corporation Apr 2021 - Oct 2022
    Santa Clara, California, Us
Defined tools and processes to simplify quarterly planning cycles by consolidating inputs and aligning on assumptions.• Devised a method to assess future lab demand based on variable product timelines and support models, leading to on-demand generation of headcount, budget, and capacity models that previously took weeks to roll-up.
  • Intel Corporation
    Engineering Manager
    Intel Corporation Jan 2019 - Apr 2021
    Santa Clara, California, Us
Managed the System Quality & Reliability Client and ESD team of engineers and technicians operating labs in United States and Israel.• Led a team in the development of advanced system stress testing methods for Client CPU and PCH products, executing electro-static discharge (ESD), direct pin zap (DPZ), and radio frequency interference (RFI) tests on all Intel products, ensuring product resilience and compliance with industry standards.
  • Intel Corporation
    Software Engineer
    Intel Corporation Jul 2011 - Mar 2019
    Santa Clara, California, Us
Served as the lead automation developer within the Santa Clara System Quality and Reliability team supporting product qualification experiments across CPU, SOC, and PCH device spanning the Intel Xeon, Xeon Phi, Core, Atom, Atom µServer families.• Developed and maintained a fully automated and feature rich system stress framework that provided a unified method to run stress test experiments across all Intel product segments. This framework leveraged Python for test automation, SQL for data logging, .NET for tooling, and JavaScript\HTML\CSS for web interface. This greatly reduced the time needed to enable for new product integrations, improved experiment consistency, and simplified workflows to avoid quality issues. • Designed and implemented software and processes to enable Reliability Demonstration Testing on Data Center Persistent Memory Module (DCPMM) to adhere to JEDEC standards for memory and storage devices.• Pioneered new test methodologies for characterizing process speeds paths on system-based platform. This enabled processor degradation measurements which simplified product qualification flows and reduced the time of data collections.• Created custom tools in .NET (VB and C#) that greatly improved the quality and the time needed to stress test including a voltage and thermal margining tool that interfaces with custom test hardware and JTAG probes allowing for monitoring and modifying a system’s state and a system controller that leverages SQL and network sockets to remotely execute and monitor systems within our lab.
