After 6 years working for Flex at the Plano Design Center location, I took a new role as Director of Design Project Management at the Silicon Valley Innovation Center located in Milpitas, the Flex US based headquarters.My role was focused on leading the Innovation Center's Special Projects team where we are focused on bringing Flex's diverse expertise in multiple industries including consumer, industrial, medical, automotive and energy to support strategic partnerships with public and private industries. My role focuses on leading all design programs within the Special Projects team, supporting and leading business development efforts to bring new opportunities to our team, and continuing to build and grow the team with additional program managers, multi-disciplined engineers, and operations staff to execute our continually growing project portfolio.The major highlight of our team to date is the development of Flexible Hybrid Electronics embedded in textile garments for elite soldier systems as part of the TALOS program. These wearables support data capture of key vital signs such as ECG, heart rate, respiration, PPG, blood oxygen, blood pressure, and also EMG. These state of the art and cutting edge e-textiles will revolutionize not only military capabilities but also many other industries around the world.

As the leader of Technical Program Management team representing the Plano, TX Design Center, I was promoted into the Manager of Technical Programs role after 4+ years of mechanical engineering design and program management positions within Flex. As Manager of Technical Programs I oversaw the Technical Program Management team consisting of 7 TPM's with a variety of technical and business backgrounds including engineering degrees in mechanical, electrical, and computer science. My main focus was to ensure projects are defined, tracked, managed, and communicated in terms of resource loading, cost, and schedule with excellent customer relationships in a consistent and effective manner. Required attributes of the TPM Manager role included:- Continually drive the TPM team to consistently challenge their technical resources to validate the approach and problem solving techniques being utilized on their projects are sound in judgement and strategy- Lead regular reviews of all programs and projects, monitor their progress and provide updates to site and executive leadership.- Implement and enhance consistent project management best practices to ensure optimized product and project delivery aligned with company initiatives and expectations.- Collaborate regularly with and direct technical leadership in other functional areas to ensure Flex and customer objectives are met- Lead program planning discussions with the customers and development team to strategically and effectively architect the project plan and oversee the execution of such.- Repeatedly review the resource allocation for each project validating the most effective team is in place to continue to drive the best and most efficient plan in terms of cost, quality, and schedule.- Responsible for leading cost negotiation with customer project leaders. - Lead weekly reviews of all project financial health, resource allocation and utilization for entire site (60+ resources)

As a Technical Program Manager at the Plano Design Center, my main responsibility is to technically and strategically lead project teams made up of mechanical, electrical, and firmware/software engineers. I manage multiple programs/projects simultaneously across multiple industries (aerospace/defense, industrial, energy) to create new cutting edge products that we then transition to our manufacturing sites across the globe. The ability to multitask, effectively plan, foresee future issues, and make correct decisions with the customer's interest in mind are all key responsibilities I have to be effective at in my position. Daily activities as a Technical Program Manager at the Plano Design center include:- Scope and estimate new business opportunities and create proposal presentations for presenting our proposals to future customers in conjunction with the business development team.- Write Statement of Work (SOW) documents that define the scope for new opportunities including project activities, costs associated, and assumptions/exclusions pertaining to the project scope.- Create initial project planning documents including project schedule, communications plan, risk tracker, action tracker, and financial tracker.- Work with the project team and customer to establish the project requirements for each individual project so that the end product is appropriately defined.- Continually lead and instruct the project team on project activities and milestones so that the overall project schedule and budget are maintained.- Regularly track the project financials so the overall project health can be known and always up to date.- Consistently update the senior management of the center including the GM, Director of Programs, and Director of Engineering on the statuses of each of my projects.- Oversee the build and test of prototypes developed by the design team, support the regulatory testing of those prototypes, and transition that tested product to manufacturing.

Served as a member of the Heavy Structural Design group (three years full time and two additional separate co-op terms) designing aircraft modifications and upgrades to the RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft, a member of the US Air Force surveillance fleet. Our design group was a participant in the entire design process from start to finish including design, drafting, fabrication, and installation of multiple pieces of reconnaissance equipment which resulted in structural modifications to the skin, floor, wings, tail, and belly of the aircraft. My final year at L-3 was in the position of Liaison Engineer where I worked full time in the hangar, overseeing and supervising the installation of all of the aircraft modifications our Heavy Structures group designed. This provided a dynamic and fast paced environment where timely assessment and determination of the issues pertaining to a particular mod installation were absolutely critical to the on time and under budget delivery of the aircraft.
