Ever since I was young and received my first Nintendo 64 I've been intrigued with technology, but I also spent most of my evenings riding my bike, jumping on trampolines, casting my fishing pole in the back yard, and causing ruckus in the neighborhood. To this day, I still enjoy my time outside, but I spend much more time on the computer and learning about new technology. I initially went to college and got my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry, intending on becoming a pastor. While in college I worked at my universities Help Desk, taking phone calls from students and professors to help with their technology needs, and occasionally getting to leave my desk if they needed in-person assistance. I loved that job and it only fostered my love for technology more. While there, I learned what a basic enterprise environment looked like, using things like Novell and eventually Active Directory, and how to best support the average person to engage with their provided technology to be better at their job. For almost three years I was a Children's Pastor, which taught me about working with people. To some degree it was administrative, developing and keeping to a budget for example, but it was primarily a job to connect with people. I developed relationships with kids and their families and ministered to them, but also had to recruit, train, and retain volunteers. Convincing someone that you need their help and for them to give up 1-3 hours of their week is quite the undertaking. Although I loved this job, I felt that my career was being tugged in a different direction.I heard of an opportunity at my wife's school district for a position in technology. I applied and with my previous IT experience got the job. Since then, I've felt more fulfilled and have really enjoyed giving my time and skills to a new career path. Currently, I work for a Health System and get to lead a team of technicians that help our users utilize the technology given to them to provide health care to our community. I may not be the one directly providing this care, but I love being able to be a part of it. Knowing I am a part of something bigger that is helping our community really motivates me to learn new skills. I've taken online courses in beginner courses PowerShell, Python, AWS, and also a couple of classes in Cybersecurity fundamentals . Currently I am exploring SCCM/MCEM courses to help learn about Desktop Management in an enterprise environment.
