Training officer for the domestic division of SMS PLC.I work within the company’s utility academy, training company employees along with 3rd party contractors. During my time with the academy, I designed and ran a training course to upskill electrical engineers to sit through their ACS exams (CMA1 & MET1). The course was designed to fulfil requirements of a Logic Certification MLP programme.Other duties include training 2-day Logic PEB1 courses, assessing operatives through the companies MOCOPA qualification, company inductions and corrective action courses.The corrective action courses are tailored to each operative who have had a high risk defect, which means it needs to fit their individual needs and ultimately satisfy the SMS compliance department that the employee is safe enough to return to the field. I am also currently working towards my A1 assessors qualification.

As a Smart Energy Coach, I was responsible for developing the team in multiple aspects of their job including safety, performance, ability and the service they provide our customers. Once an issue is identified, a plan is then put in place to allow the experts to overcome their skill gap. This helps the team complete jobs first time which in turn enhances the customers experience and helps the company move closer to the smart meter mandate and reduce costs. I also carried out planned on-site training with the meter engineers when a training issue was identified, and a log kept detailing the type of training and understanding that was delivered. I also delivered group briefings and training during our team meetings.My other duties include analysing management information and identifying areas of improvement, looking after short notice absences, the on-call rosters and liaising with the office teams including dispatch, planning and operations.I was also responsible for investigating complaints and defects reported against out Smart Energy Experts (either from customers, auditors or other experts) and providing corrective training or root cause analysis if our expert was found to be at fault.
