Drove implementation of Lean concepts at 9 steel mills. • Utilized permanent improvement teams, self-directed workforces, employee engagement and Kaizen methodology, redirecting 4% of workforce and saving 20K hours and over $4M per year. • Executed over 400 Kaizen events over 2-year implementation process, focusing on employee engagement, elimination of waste and job simplification.

Managed total plant operations with assets of $84M and annual budget of $130M. Provided leadership and direction for staff of 42 salaried and 220 non-union employees. Oversaw implementation of Six Sigma methodology across organization.• Redirected operation from commodity to niche offerings, decoupling performance from market fluctuations and increasing new products offerings by 20%, operating income by $40M and EBITDA margin by 16%.

Responsible for Mill Operations, Maintenance and Roll Shop. Assumed responsibility for operations of new Rodmill six months after start-up. Managed staff of 32 salaried and 208 union employees. Responsible for financial, production, maintenance, quality, new product adoption and safety performance. During USWA strike, directed salaried workforce to perform at levels exceeding mill performance prior to strike. Responsible for Mill Operations. Oversaw maintenance for 7 months during management restructure. Led training trips to Hylsa, Mexico and instituted state-of-the-art standard practices. Managed staff of 22 salaried and 128 union employees. Responsible for production, quality, new product adoption and safety performance. Coordinated with construction and directed $65 M capital improvement. Responsible for all turn operations. Rotated shifts and supervised 5 salaried and 26 production and maintenance shift personnel. Utilized Taguchi methodology to improve quality results.Support function using techniques and responsibilities including: capability studies, experimental design, regression equations, cost analysis, mill capacity planning, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), PC based simulations, Customer contact for in-plant visits and designed of Quality Handbook.
