As a Signal Electrician for Sydney Trains, my job involves maintaining and repairing the complex electrical systems that control trains and ensure their safe and efficient operation. The work is critical to the smooth functioning of the rail network, as even a minor malfunction can cause significant disruptions and delays.As a Work Group Leader for Network Maintenance at the Hornsby Network Base, I am responsible for leading a team of Signal Electricians and Section Men to ensuring that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This involves planning and coordinating maintenance schedules, overseeing the installation and testing of new equipment, and responding to emergencies and faults as they arise.In addition to my role as a Signal Electrician and Work Group Leader, I also serve as the Chairman of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Committee for City North. This important role involves working with management and staff to identify and manage workplace health and safety risks, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.I have obtained during my time with Sydney Trains a high level of technical knowledge and expertise in electrical systems, as well as excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. The majority of the work is performed under pressure, respond quickly to emergencies, and prioritize safety at all times.
