I am currently employed as a Mechanical Engineer at the aerospace assembly engineering firm Electroimpact, based in Mukilteo, Wa. If you are not familiar with Electroimpact, it is commonly described as an engineer's paradise - and it really is. As an engineer at Electroimpact, I am given all the tools anyone would need to design around any given customer constraints. Another unique facet of Electroimpact is that, as an engineer, I get to work on a project from the first proposals and concepts to supplying maintenance support, years after a design was first realized. In addition, my skill set includes everything in between such as validating prototypes, managing RFQ's and purchase orders, assembling my designs, and traveling across the globe to locations like Brazil and Australia to install tooling in a customer's factory. This approach to engineering allows me to constantly learn and continue to improve as a well-rounded engineer.

Before I began my profession as a mechanical engineer I worked at Electroimpact as a mechanical engineering intern. This internship was an amazing opportunity for me - not only to learn what engineering entails, but also to pick up and sharpen my engineering, manufacturing, and design skills before almost all of my peers.During my college and pre-college years, I learned a lot about the basics of engineering; I worked under a talented engineer who taught me how to understand part and assembly drawings, tolerance parts to save money, and effectively prioritize time to meet customer timelines. In addition to working with an engineer, I was able to work in the production shop for a number of years where I learned to machine production parts made of steel and aluminum to meet drawing tolerances. Working in the machine shop quickly taught me the importance of GD&T and opening up tolerances, when possible, to save time and therefore money.
