I'm seeking gap year opportunities to grow and gain more experience in the medical field.My involvement with the Mobile Clinic Project, FitNut, MESH, and BruinCorps has been very humbling. The work has provided me with valuable insights about working with disadvantaged and marginalized communities. I've learned how to communicate effectively with people who vary greatly in backgrounds and more importantly, how to connect with them.As a first-generation Latinx individual coming from a low-income and predominantly Hispanic community with limited opportunities and resources, I feel my circumstances have put me in a unique position to understand better those that I serve.
