During that summer period I applied for Student Placement Programme, and I was chosen from MCAST to help the IT Department with their daily tasks and small projects.Tasks that were assigned to me:Data entryFixing faulty computersUpgrading computersChanging the necessary hardwareDo clean format and installation of windows 7 and various other software applications.

During that summer period I applied for Student Placement Programme, and I was chosen from Identity Malta to work with other students to develop a small easy system with database for the registry room For the first three weeks we did some filing of governmental documents to have a look and feel of how the system was manually being done at that time.Then the upper management gave us this project where we had to create a small application using a database for that department. The employees in that department, only knew how to use Microsoft Office software so we were asked to use Microsoft Access. The database had to store all the necessary filing information and with VB.net we developed the rest of the system such as updating the database, keep track of the files taken out that were taken out from the registry department and when these files were back, and if these files that were not back after a particular day, the employee responsible for that file and the upper management will be notified by an email. As a team we also implemented a barcode system so that we made the employees’ life easier when inputting data and to search in the software. This software took us like five whole weeks to develop, do some testing and some data inputFor the last three weeks we were back to the filing department to continue filing and at the same time use the new software to test it, bug fixing, do some small enhancements and teach those employees that will be using this software.

During that summer period I applied for Student Placement Programme, and I was chosen from APS Bank to work on a project that the IT Department was doing at that time.In the first two months I helped the department in one of their most demanding projects. This was migrating from windows XP to Windows 7. My job was helping them make this conversion. Such an upgrade requires a clean format and installation of windows 7 and various other software applications. I was also required to go to several branches to install the actual computer tower on location.During my 3rd month, my job included some clerical work such as making some photocopies of contracts and making sure that the said contracts were up to date with the system. Other tasks were also assigned to me such as changing and installing peripherals, computer maintenance and so on.

The two main responsibilities in this job were machine lineproduction and packaging.In the machine lineproduction my job was to put the parts in the machine and then the machine will produce the final product that is the packet with all the parts.In the packaging section my job was toput different packageseither in one box altogether orputthem in display boxesIn addition to what was mentioned, I also had other responsibilitieslike model assembling,parts sorting,labellingandany other necessities that needed to be done

Part of the Job Experience Scheme (JES). JES is a scheme specifically designed for young people entering the labour market without any work experience and giving them an opportunity of employment for 3 months.I took part of the scheme and worked in the parish office of Marsaxlokk.The job included clerical and general office duties.
