Coach new and experienced testers in Software Testing- For experienced testers we work together on specific things that they need assistance with- For new testers we start at the fundamentals of testing and thinking (as they go hand in hand) and we go as fast or slow as they are comfortable with.I use the Socratic coaching style along with RST Test Coaching Methodology created by James BachFor new testers I focus on the following:- Understanding the difference between Tacit and Explicit Knowledge- What is testing and how do we talk about it- The difference between shallow testing and deep testing - I introduce them to the Heuristic Test Strategy Model as taught in Rapid Software Testing (I have found great success in challenging new testers to dive into the applications without any training or demo and exploring, while building a model in the form of a product coverage outline) The product elements are a great way to start and from there I transition to the Test Techniques, Quality Criteria and Product elements. With Session based test management using mind maps tying up the initial coaching experience.I am very much in the beginning stages of this journey, with improvements to the coaching experience being made all the time as I learn more and more.I think of my role as a guide to the gates of the Context Driven Testing school, I hope to help the people I work with see that there is more to testing that they can imagine, and that they are on the right track from the start of there careers. [In that light we are in the process of standardizing our companies external testing training with Rapid Software Testing Courses and Association for Software Testing Courses being the go to training for all our testers]
