Founded in 1999, Chorus is a 80-strong team of talented IT and creative specialists. Our services include software development, managed IT, Microsoft Dynamics and SharePoint, web, intranet and e-commerce sites and complementary creative design services. My combined understanding of both IT and of business needs enables me to be an easy interface between technical solutions and non-technical managers. Since joining the Chorus team I have delighted to say I’ve been able to help hundreds of business leaders to find the right solutions.

Initially recruited as an assistant management accountant. A greetings card wholesaler and retailer with two warehouses and 30 retail stores, Card World had invested heavily in stock control and electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) technology, but the project was failing. As I understood both finance and IT one of my first assignments was to turn the project around and subsequently manage the IT infrastructure, in addition to being responsible for the stock file as well as sitting on the senior management team.

ILRT is a department of projects run for the benefit of higher and further education. On average around 20-30 projects of differing durations run concurrently. My role was to fulfil the accounts function for each project, including pre-budgeting for bid purposes, expenses management and on-going budget control, year-end accounting and reporting to HEFCE and JISC.

A contract position, auditing local authorities. This role involved preparing for, and informing local authorities of, upcoming audits, including extracting the information from them and co-ordinating the audit itself. I was also required to perform on-site inspections of services.

I worked for two divisions of BPI, the largest company of its kind in Britain. Initially I worked as account manager within Paclene UK Limited, a division supplying packaging products to the retail sector. I managed clients including Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose, additionally setting manufacturing schedules and sourcing specialist materials from the Far East. In January 1999 I was promoted to a field-based sales executive position within Welton Packaging Limited, a consumer wrapping division predominantly providing specialist magazine wrapping. This role involved managing and developing a large portfolio of existing clients while also cementing new business contracts.

Part of the team involved with the set-up and launch of roaming mobile services. This role involved testing the underlying systems supporting, and quality of, mobile communications worldwide.

AH Business Management supported a wide range of small businesses with every non-core aspect of running their company. I was responsible for clients’ accounts and returns, and involved in many other elements of their business management.
