Established and adhered to processes to ensure the timely and accurate filing of Indirect Tax returns for the EMEA region. Reviewed all VAT accounts and VAT aging for issues and provided timely support for resolution. Supported HomeAway in resolving complex customer-facing and supplier matters by applying appropriate VAT & GST treatment.

Responsible for management of the company’s worldwide VAT, GST, and sales tax requirements. Review and monitor international sales and purchase transactions for VAT and GST impact including drop shipments and centralized purchasing. Monitor companies’ activities for potential VAT registration requirements; ensure compliance with cross border requirements. Partner with international and domestic income tax team for review of international operations, acquisitions and potential restructures to maximize tax savings and minimize risk. Conduct tax recovery audits and risk assessment projects. Provide training to divisions, facilities, and other internal groups to facilitate their understanding of, and compliance with VAT laws and regulations. Ensures that VAT related G/L accounts are reconciled and processes met SOX requirements. Manage VAT/GST audits; provide regular updates to management regarding progression of audits, and ensure correct tax reserves are maintained as per ASC 450.

Over see all aspects of Non-Income Taxes and Telecommunication Regulatory Fees for the United States and Canada. Prepares and reviews Federal and State Telecommunication Regulatory filings including FCC 499A and 499Q as well as state USF and TRS reports.

Managed the Tax function for the KMMG Assembly plant. Prepared quarterly tax provision as well as Federal and state estimated tax payments. Partnered with in-house and external attorneys as well as local government officials to secure a 2nd multi million dollar real and personal property tax exemption for the plant.

Rebuilt and managed the Property Tax function for a large telecommunications company. I initiated programs that resulted in Property Tax savings in excess of $30M during my tenure with the company.

Managed all aspects of the sales/use and property taxes. Managed a staff of two tax analysts.
