Worked as a part of the Strategic Planning Leadership Council at South Dakota State University to help implement a new 5 year university strategic plan to be fully implemented by July 2013. As the only undergraduate on the committee, my job also consisted of being as involved as possible to make sure that a student voice was present in every facet of the committee's work.Worked extensively to vet Strategic Planning issues with students on campus by organizing a series of thirteen different listening sessions with student groups.Participated in all areas of the Strategic Planning process spanning from University Listening sessions, comprehensive content analysis of 36 departmental/unit meetings, selection committee to select a consulting firm via a RFP, attending state-wide listening sessions, and organizing opportunities for students to vet the new Strategic Plan.

Worked on behalf of students to improve their quality of life within SDSU, the City of Brookings, and the State of South Dakota.Served as a respected voice for students at South Dakota State University and across the state of South Dakota as a Board of Director on the South Dakota Student Federation.Lobbied in front of the State Legislature on issues ranging from the creation of a Good Samaritan Alcohol Policy, to possible reduction in state funding for higher education, and other issues relevant to students.Worked with the SD Board of Regents to raise the Salary Competitiveness Fee by 1% to help bridge the gap faced by faculty and staff within the SD BOR system after three years of salary freezes.Worked with the City of Brookings City Council to bring Buffalo Wild Wings to Brookings, create bike lanes for safer travel from downtown to campus, discuss the role of students in celebrations such as Hobo Days and Pubcrawl, and to create a "campus town" neighborhood south of the SDSU campus.Served on the Brookings Visitor Promotions committee as a student representative.Served on the 150th Anniversary of the Morrill Act Taskforce as well as a small group tasked in an RFQ process to look at the possibility of a private sector apartment moving to the campus of SDSU via a ground-lease. ThisOversaw and advised 26 senators, 6 Executive Board members, and 8 Board of DirectorsWorked within the SDSU campus on numerous issues ranging from funding for student organizations, planning for a 350 seat dining expansion for the University Student Union, talking about increasing student inclusion on campus, the potential implementation of a plus/minus grading system, changes to student seating in Frost Arena, and potential expansions to both the Performing Arts Center as well as the Student Wellness Center.

Organized the annual Students' Association Budgeting Process where over $2,400,000 are allocated to approximately 35 student organizations.Chaired the University Activity Fee and Budgeting Committee (UAFBC) that oversees the approximately $2.4 million in General Activity Fees (GAF).Led the UAFBC through a comprehensive review of our 12 peer institutions and three stretch peers to determine best practices and industry standard in regards to allocation of student fees. Upon compiling and organizing research, I was tasked with authoring a report to recommend changes in the way GAF dollars are allocated at South Dakota State University. This report was sent to, and endorsed by, the President of SDSU - Dr. David Chicoine.As a Senator, I served as the Board of Director for the College of Arts and Sciences where I was responsible in representing the college within that small group who is tasked with dealing with time senstive issues.I chaired the campus Parking and Traffic Committee where we underwent a complete look at the campus's current and future parking needs. These results where then taken and compared with the campus's long range master plan. I helped guide the committee through the process of lowering ticket prices from $50 to $35. I worked with the committee to create a parking rate structure which is more equitable.Sponsored legislation aimed at impacting the daily lives of students at SDSU. This included everything from improving campus Residential Life, students' relationship to the South Dakota Board of Regents, creating a campus bike sharing program, and working with the City of Brookings to implement city wide bike lanes.

Represented the general student at SDSU.Sponsored legislation aimed at improving the lives of students. This included supporting SDSU's decision to look at engaging into a RFP to look at allowing the private sector to build a high class apartment facility on the campus of SDSU.Served on the Parking and Traffic Committee where I helped to lower campus ticket prices from $100 to $50.

Managed and organized the day-to-day operations of the organization.Planned a one day retreat to look at the values and role of the organization within the campus of SDSU and the community of Brookings, South Dakota.Worked with the approximately 40 members on issues ranging from planning brotherhood events, recruiting new members, to philanthropic activities for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
